Go Anna Go

Indian government has been struck by lighting called Anna hazare , that too twice. Which has made our government go berserk like dog which has its tail on fire, it is doing everything to stop Anna somehow, anyhow. Lately, they have realized that they need to target the facebook population of India to counter the effect of Anna on our youth. So , What they have done is hired some intellectual writes , NGO activists , and some old grunted pals of Anna Hazare , using these people they have flooded internet with anti- Anna articles, videos and comments on site. Since they are targeting the literate facebook population these article, videos and comments don't target Anna directly, they are subtle in nature ,but they question the righteousness of his methods in a constitution abiding democratic country, I say what a bucket load of bullshit. Where was our constitutional state when Ramdev was arrested on and taken to a remote location, why was Anna arrested and then released in a day for which govt has no constitutional explanation to offer. This makes us ,citizens of India, ponder on the very hypocrisy of our government. I agree that  fasting onto death is extremism and in a "Ideal" democracy may not be right thing to do, but our world is sadly not even close to ideal. We live in a country where people who stand up for right things or try to expose corruption are shot dead or transferred from their positions or simply jailed and this doesnt stop here, if the person is still trying to stand up, powerful government agencies like Central Investigation Beau , Income Tax department and Indian police are let loose , who look

to be completed....

Tuesday 28 June 2011

On this very date, 3 years ago, with a pack of cigarettes and dreams in our pockets we stepped into the corporate circus, only to reliaze that we way too early for the Induction and on top of that there were plethora of documents that we had to fill in. But that didnt lower our excitement , this was what we had dreamt of - Big company, huge office campus ( infact they should call it a resort) and cutting edge technology(or so we were hoping).
With a tank full of hope and blessings we took the first step forward.
And so started our journey into the corporate world were new challenges , experiences and people awaited us.

Automobiles

The day has come, my big step into the literary art of blogging. And What better way to start off by talking about my favourite topic, Automobiles.

Ever since I gained my consciousness(quite contrary to my blog title ), I always had an affection for cars, kind of irrational affection that you can’t explain, sort of like your first crush. I would just sit and stare at the old Imapalas and 50’s Austins standing neglected in the garage at my maternal Uncle’s house, they had the most magical effect on me. This affection grew as the days went by. I was able to identify a Willy when most kids in the neighborhood didn’t even knew  an Ambassador (the Indian version of  Morris Oxford).  I had the largest collection of toy cars in the neighborhood, ranging from De Tamso Pantera to bad ass muscle cars and all of my relatives knew what to give me on my birthday. The days went by and I grew up, still I could identify most of the cars and all , if you were to believe my friends, and then came a phase where my passion took a back seat to make way for puberty. The books on cars were replaced by **** and car shows with movies , my collection was donated and distributed among my young nephews ( boys you see)and everything on cars went on a hold.

I remember it clearly, It was a cold and sunny February morning in Connught place,Delhi. Me and my cousin had come there to give some exams after our school ended. We were walking down the street casually around the Stateman’s house when suddenly a Blue car passed us. The next 5-10 sec I went Blank. I had never seen a car like that, I had no idea about its make or model , the only thing I knew its belonged to 50s or 60s. I just couldnt get it out of my head , that car had me dumbfounded, it was beautiful and had a lovely charm. I wanted to find out everything about her. We quickly finished our work there and went home.At hoem, I started my super slow desktop computer and connected internet from the phone line boom baamm kzzz zzziieeeeee (i case you not familar with this sound then you havnt connected to internet from your phone line) and some minutes later I was there on Internet. Now the painstaking search for that elusive “Blue” car started and I was enjoying it. I was going through car site , looking over dozen of classic cars pictures , searching “blue charming classic car” on google.Eureka! After 1 hrs of searching I had finally found the car, It was a Jaguar XK120, I have attached a picture of it for my audience, I read about the car and found it quite fascinating. During my search I also found out there was a classic car rally in Delhi the next day. And then it hit me maybe the car was being prepared for the rally.

And there I was the next day standing in Statesman house surrounded by all those lovely beauties. It just swept me away. And there in the corner stood the Blue charming car. It had the most amazing charm and patina. I had a litltle chat with the owner of the car and came to know the this car was purchased by the grandfather and have been left neglected in the garge sometime in 1960 after his death. The family had recent found the car in the garage while shifting houses ( ha! seriously? there was car in your garage for little ess than 50 years and you dint knew about it) and then they decided to restore it.

More Importantly, this experience had reignited my love for cars. It had transported me back to my childhood memories of Impala and Austin and brought back the magic. I was happy just to be there and I was learning so much there were some cars of makes and models that I had never heard about. But it was the charm that bit me, and I realized that I had a very very soft spot for classic cars.It not like that I dont enjoy modern cars infact I was very much interested in the Jap tuning and turbo charging scene but call me old fashioned but you can’t help but fall in love with these charming beauties.

And just to let you know guys , I dream of owning a 1960 Lancia Flaminia sports Zagato and the first Generation Alfa Duetta, if anybody decides to gift me one.
Warning : You will be hearing about cars in this blog a lot often and I have a tendancy to bring automobiles into everything..so beware!
